Pepino Melon for Weight Loss?

For those of you who's watching the calories, pepino melon may be the answer for you. One of the best ways to lose weight is by increasing the amount of fiber in your diet. Pepino melon has about 5 grams of fiber and about 80 calories, making this melon a good choice when it comes to snack time.

A pepino melon, or Solanum muricatum, isn’t a true melon, although it resembles one. Also called pepino dulce, this fruit is actually related to eggplants and tomatoes. It has a golden skin with purple markings. Pepino melons can range from the size of cantaloupes to the size of plums. Pepinos have a mild taste that has been compared to bananas crossed with pears. The average, medium-sized pepino melon has about 80 calories, making it an ideal snack for dieters who get hungry between meals. Eating low-cal snacks can help you stay light on your feet.  Jacky G.

Give pepino melon a try. It's usually available in the fall of the year. You can try it in salads or eat it alone. You can also use it in smoothies. But one thing for sure, you will get the fiber you need and fiber keeps you feeling full longer, thus helping you to lose weight faster.
